Population of Benichembla

According to the municipal register of the 2006 (INE 2006), the population of the town was 615 inhabitants.

In 1615 the town had only 99 inhabitants, and in 1715 it increased to 360 inhabitants. The population experienced a spectacular growth until 1860. In 1860 the population was at 848 inhabitants. From year 1900 to the 1964, the population diminishes by 34%, due to a migratory current towards the EE.UU., France, Germany and to Algeria. Of the 559 inhabitants registered in the 2005, 34% of the population are foreign, being British the majority group, followed by the Germans and Americans. Most of the population of Benichembla is Valencian speaking.
